Traditionally, if you wanted a watch that was close to indestructible and boasted an enormous range of handy features you would choose something from Casio’s G-Shock range. Recently though, those clever chaps at Casio have been refining the G-Shock style, and this magnificent timepiece is what they’ve come up with.
Whilst the vast array of features means that the W110D is by necessity not a simple looking watch, Casio’s designers have used a stylishly muted black and gold colour scheme on the face to ensure that it is quick and easy to read. Its round bezel and chunky gold hands and indices are reminiscent of classic divers watches. Three digital sub displays complete the face, with a clever hand movement button to ensure that these displays are easily visible when needed.
The stylish countenance of the W110D belies the incredible array of features it places literally at your fingertips. Foremost amongst these is the multiband radio control system, which will automatically synchronise your watch with an incredibly accurate atomic clock in whatever time zone you happen to find yourself in, meaning that you’ll always know the precise time wherever you are. Coupled with a high capacity solar charging system you’ll never be left wondering what time it is again.
Like all G-Shock watches the W110D is shock resistant (here at Menkind Towers we’ve owned a few different models between us, and we can vouch for their sturdiness) and it’s also water resistant to 200 metres, which makes it suitable for free diving without scuba gear. A chunky stainless steel band and case along with scratch resistant mineral glass ensures that it will continue to function in even the most harsh conditions.
As well as telling you the time, the W110D boasts a number of other functions across its three digital sub dials. As well as a stopwatch, countdown timer and world time display it also features an automatic calendar, alarm and hourly time signals and a cunning auto illuminator which lights the face automatically when you tilt it towards your face. There’s also a power saving mode to turn off the display in the dark and a luminous Neobrite coating on the hands and index provide long lasting and easy to read illumination in the dark after only a brief exposure to light.
