One of the biggest and best action set pieces in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was the climactic chess match scene, in which our heroes had to face off against an oversized wizard chess board, and the game had life or death stakes. Now, fortunately, this set isn’t life or death (and it doesn’t have a dark wizard at the other end of it), but it is a stunning set, suitably named the Final Challenge Wizard’s Chess Set.
As far as replica chess sets go, this one is superlative in its accuracy: these chess pieces are incredibly accurate and true to the design of the movie versions, right down to subtle touches like the golden detailing on shields and weapons - they’re even weathered from all the dust, debris and smoke in the area from the film! Made from zinc and PVC, they’re incredibly sturdy pieces, sure to survive the rigours of multiple rematches as you either try to develop your chess skills or demonstrate them to all comers (the time for all Ron Weasleys to truly shine!). The board is also superbly detailed, with a plexiglas and zinc design that is sturdy and survivable, whilst making for an incredible display piece as well.
For those of you wanting to go the extra mile for memorabilia, this is the perfect choice.
