When we heard they were making a successor to their bestselling Bebop drone we couldn’t wait to get our hands on it! And guess what, it’s awesome.
Flight Performance…
The first thing any drone should get right is how well it flies. So consider the first box well and truly ticked. The Bebop 2 Power has a multitude of features that make flying a synch, whether you prefer to fly using a physical controller or via smart device (such as a tablet or mobile phone) with our FPV pack you have the option for both. Flying can be as autonomous or as manual as you prefer. It boasts an incredible 60 minutes flight time from two batteries and even though its lightweight it can withstand winds speeds of 37.28 mph. Plus, Parrots stabilisation system means that every flight is as smooth and controlled as physically possible. Oh, you’ll be pleased to know you can control the Bebop up to a staggering 2km away!
There are some impressive safety features too, such as Return Home - a button which automatically brings the drone back to you with a simple press, plus an instant land option for when you need to bring the Bebop down quickly. If you do manage to somehow lose your drone the Locate My Bebop will locate it on a map, however to help limit the need for this feature you can also Geofence your drone meaning it will never leave a defined area. Clever stuff.
The Camera…
Built into the bebop is a super sharp 14 megapixel camera that can capture stunning still images or incredible video footage shot at 1080p. The lens has a 180 degree field of view and the drone has 8GB flash memory built in to save everything you have shot. The Bebop Power excels in its simplicity. Now you can capture superb footage with a simple click. Auto-shots such as 360 degree panorama and various automatic panning shots guarantee you amazing videos with minimal fuss. The Parrot Bebop will even help frame your shot all thanks to its advanced visual tracking system.
FPV…
Included with the Bebop 2 Power is Parrot’s Cockpit glasses version 2. Streamlined and lighter than the original glasses, these state of the art virtual reality glasses let you experience the ultimate thrill of soaring above the clouds. Using the Freeflight Pro App (which is unsurprisingly free by the way) you simply dock your mobile phone within the headset and watch in awe as the Bebop streams its incredible footage live to your smartphone.
That’s not all…
We’ve mentioned how easy the Bebop is to fly, how insanely good the camera is, its impressive flight time, and also the ability to view footage from the drone in real-time, but there are a few other features we have to mention. The Bebop 2 now gives the ability of autonomous tracking using advanced GPS and visual tracking in a feature called ‘follow me’. Simply place your smart phone in your pocket and the Bebop does the rest. Now you can capture incredible footage when you are cycling, running, climbing, simply out and about, all with the minimal of effort. Not only that but there is also the option of complete hands-free flying with its Flight Plan mode. With this selected you can plan a route for the drone to follow with no further pilot interaction needed. It’s the simplest way to capture professional quality images and video without being an expert (please note: the Flight Plan mode, and Follow Me requires in app-purchases).
